PITTSBURGH, PA -- A coalition of labor, business and civic leaders will announce the creation of a new organization to advocate for Pittsburgh’s traditional and manufacturing industries at a rally 1 p.m. Thursday at the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh Works Together is an outgrowth of meetings organized by The Builders Guild of Western Pennsylvania, an initiative of local construction unions and contractor associations; the Pittsburgh Regional Building Trades Council; major companies; and civic leaders.

The group will confront a growing anti-working family campaign by various interest groups who have targeted steel, natural gas, construction and other traditional industries in an effort to gain political and economic power in the region.

Pittsburgh Works Together will advocate for an all-of-the-above agenda of job creation, that embraces new technology and commerce while retaining core industries that are essential to the region’s continuing prosperity.

WHO: A coalition of labor and business

WHAT: A major announcement about Pittsburgh’s future

WHEN: 1 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2020

WHERE: Heinz History Center
5th Floor, Mueller Center
1212 Smallman Street
Pittsburgh, PA 15222

NOTE: A mult-box will be provided, as well as a riser for cameras. Individual interviews with speakers can be arranged.
