Pittsburgh Works Together statement on the U.S. Department of Energy’s hydrogen hub awards

The following statement can be attributed to Jeff Nobers, executive director of Pittsburgh Works Together:

While we are disappointed that the SW PA-based DNA project was not chosen, we’re pleased that the eastern side of the state has the potential to benefit from the jobs and investment associated with the MACH2 project.

We will have a role in the WV-based ARCH 2 project, and some jobs will be created here and in other areas of the state, but certainly not at the level we had hoped. It is critical that we work together to attract as many jobs and as much investment as possible from the ARCH2 project into SW PA.

Hopefully the Department of Energy will hold debriefings for those who were unsuccessful so that we can better understand what the DOE saw as deficiencies in the Pittsburgh region’s proposal.

We look forward to our role in developing this cutting-edge concept that can help with the world’s energy transition and the reduction of carbon emissions.
