(WPXI, March 28, 2024)

Bill Flanagan from Our Region’s Business interviews Pittsburgh Works Together Executive Director Jeff Nobers about why our electric grid’s reliability is in jeopardy.

The perfect storm of skyrocketing demand, shrinking supply, and misguided state policies have combined to put our region at a real risk of electricity shortages by 2030, if not sooner.

Mr. Nobers calls for civic and business leaders to recognize the urgency of the moment, invest in energy infrastructure, and take advantage of the abundant, efficient natural gas that has reliably powered our grid for generations.

PGH Works Perspective

Without reliable and affordable electricity, our economy will remain stuck in neutral, outside investment will stall, and our grid will be exposed to brownouts and blackouts.
