Editorial: Better air, less asthma: Pittsburgh’s air is improving, but it needs to be even cleaner

While clean air continues to be a political football in the Pittsburgh region, a decline in asthma-related emergency room visits suggests that air improvements are having tangible effects. This doesn’t mean declaring victory over dirty air — vigilance is always necessary — but it should be acknowledged that the region’s air is no longer unusually dirty, thanks to technological advancements and citizen-led efforts to clean it up.
